Description

Sweet, crunchy, and delicious! I normally only make these at Christmastime, but each year my husband recommends (or maybe “begs” is a better word) that they become a year-round treat.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups Nuts
  • 1 whole Egg White
  • 1 teaspoon Cold Water
  • ½ cups Granulated Sugar
  • ½ teaspoons Ground Cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoons Salt

Preparation

Preheat oven to 250 degrees.

Separate egg white into a bowl and beat lightly.

Add cold water and beat mixture until frothy, but not stiff.

Add nuts (I typically use almonds or walnuts) to the bowl and stir until the nuts are coated.

In a separate bowl, mix sugar, cinnamon, and salt.

Add the sugar mixture to the nuts and again stir until nuts are coated.

Spread nuts evenly on a greased baking sheet

Bake for 60 minutes, occasionally stirring/flipping/moving the nuts around.

After 60 minutes, pull them out of the oven and allow them to cool … or try them right away and suffer the burnt-tongue consequences!

Note: the serving amount is based on a typical serving amount of a 1/4 cup for almonds or walnuts.

do you start with raw nuts or ones that are already roasted? 60 minutes sounds like a long baking time, but the recipe does sound delicious!
