Description

Swedish Cinnamon Buns .

Ingredients

  • FOR THE DOUGH:
  • 1 stick Butter
  • 1-¾ cup Milk
  • 4-½ teaspoons Dried Yeast
  • 3-¾ cups Flour
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Cardamom
  • FOR THE FILLING:
  • ½ cups Sugar
  • 1 stick Butter
  • 2 Tablespoons Cinnamon
  • FOR THE TOPPING:
  • 1 whole Egg
  • 4 Tablespoons Pearl Sugar

Preparation

For the dough, in a sauce pan on low heat, melt butter. Once melted, add milk. Warm the milk until lukewarm. When the mixture is heated, take off stove top and whisk in yeast.

Mix flour, sugar, salt and cardamom in a large mixing bowl. Once all ingredients are combined, make a well in the middle of the mixture and add the butter and milk. Using a wooden spoon, combine wet and dry ingredients.

After dough is thoroughly mixed, flour a clean surface and knead for a good 5 minutes or so. Then place into a bowl covered with plastic wrap and a tea towel and let rise in a dark area for 45 minutes.

For the filling, in a small bowl add sugar, butter and cinnamon. Combine until it becomes a paste.

Cut dough in half and, on a floured surface and as best you can, roll out into a rectangle about 3mm or so thick. Spread cinnamon sugar filling on top of rolled dough. Roll dough into a small log and cut into pieces of desired size.

Either place in a 9-inch greased pie pan or on a 11 x 17 baking sheet. Beat egg and brush on top of rolls, adding pearl sugar before you stick them in oven.

Bake at 350°F for 24 minutes or until golden brown.
