Butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla and apples. Does it get any better? Fried apples are soul-soothing, comfort food that warm you from the the inside out.
Melt the butter on medium heat in a cast iron skillet or saute pan. Once butter is melted add the sliced apples, sugar and salt. The butter and sugar will create a delicious, sticky glaze to coat the apples.
Cook the apples over medium heat for 10 minutes, until they begin to soften, but aren’t mushy. Add in the cinnamon, nutmeg , vanilla extract and lemon juice. Cook for another 30 seconds, then remove from the heat.
Serve warm. These would be absolutely sinful with some vanilla ice cream.
