Description

Here is a delicious apple pie recipe that my friends gave me. It’s easy as pie to make. (OK, OK. I know that was a little cheesy). But seriously, this is a very simple and tasty apple pie recipe. And not only does this apple pie taste delicious, but the aroma of it baking in the oven will have your mouth watering in little time!

Ingredients

  • FOR THE CRUST:
  • 1 pound All-purpose Flour
  • 6 ounces, weight Butter
  • ¾ cups Ice Cold Water
  • FOR THE FILLING:
  • 6 cups Peeled And Sliced Apples
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons All-purpose Flour
  • Ground Cinnamon, to taste
  • Grated Nutmeg, To Taste

Preparation

For the pie crust:
Combine the crust ingredients in a bowl and mix until it forms a dough. Take 3/4 of the dough and place on a lightly floured surface. Set the remaining 1/4 of the dough aside. Separate the dough on the floured surface in half and roll out both halves to fit into 8-inch and 9-inch pie dishes. Place the rolled out dough into lightly greased 8-inch and 9-inch pie dishes. Roll out the rest of the dough and cut it into long strips; set aside.

For the filling and assembling the pies:
Heat oven to 400 F.

Mix together the apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a large bowl. Pour half of this into one pie crust and the other half into the other pie crust. Then lay the strips of dough that you had set aside a moment ago in a grid pattern over the apples.

Bake the pies at 400 F for about 30 minutes; then reduce the temperature to 375 F and bake for an additional 10 minutes. Turn off the oven and leave the pies inside the oven for about five minutes before taking them out and letting them cool.
