Description

Sweet, aromatic and simple indian dessert made using gram flour, sugar and clarified butter. This dessert is prepared in the microwave.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Gram Flour (Besan Or Chickpea Flour), Available From Any Indian Grocery Store
  • 6 Tablespoons Clarified Butter (Ghee), Divided
  • ½ teaspoons Cardamom Powder (Elaichi Powder)
  • ½ cups Sugar, Granulated
  • 4 Tablespoons Milk
  • 2 Tablespoons Oil
  • 9 whole Almonds

Preparation

In a microwavable bowl, add besan along with half of the ghee. Mix evenly and microwave on high for 2 minutes. Stir the besan mixture using a spatula and microwave on high for another 2 minutes.

By now, the mixture would have turned slightly brown or deeper in color and you will smell the rich aroma of ghee.

Add 2 tablespoons of ghee to this mixture and mix it in by hand (it would feel coarse in texture). Microwave for 2 more minutes.

Add the remaining ghee, cardamom powder and mix well. Microwave for 1 minute.

Now the besan mixture will have a deeper in color and be coarser in texture. Cool this mixture until it is cook enough to touch.

Add sugar, milk and mix well. While the mixture is still warm, use the oil on your hands and form small round balls or ladoo. (This needs to be made when the mixture is warm or else the ladoos will not form). Arrange the ladoos on a serving tray and decorate each ladoo with almonds.

Serve warm or cold.
