This appetizer is a staple at all of our family holiday gatherings. It’s SO easy to make, but looks and tastes like it was much trickier.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Open can/tube of crescent roll dough and roll out gently, pinching the seams together to form a sheet. Place in the center of a cookie sheet.
Slice the block of havarti with dill in half lengthwise. Place two pieces of cheese side-by-side in the middle of the rolled out crescent dough. Fold both edges of the dough up over the cheese to form an “envelope”. Pinch together or use a fork to be sure the two sides stay together.
Place the whole pastry in the pre-heated oven (middle rack) and bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until the crescent dough is golden brown and the cheese has JUST begun to bubble out of the pastry.
Remove from the oven and let stand for 2 to 3 minutes. Slice on a diagonal to create diamond-shaped bites for serving. The cheese may bubble out a little, but don’t worry, people won’t mind!
