Description

Ooey, gooey, chocolatey Pecan Pie Brownies.

Ingredients

  • FOR THE BROWNIES:
  • 1 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1 stick Unsalted Butter
  • 1-½ cup Sugar
  • 2 whole Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup Flour
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • FOR THE PECAN PIE TOPPING:
  • ½ cups Honey (or Corn Syrup)
  • ½ cups Brown Sugar
  • 2 whole Eggs
  • 2 Tablespoons Vanilla Extract
  • ½ sticks Unsalted Butter, melted
  • 2 cups Chopped Pecans
  • 1 cup Chocolate Chips

Preparation

For the brownies:
Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a 9×9 baking pan with lightly greased foil.

In a large glass bowl, microwave the chocolate chips and butter in 30-second increments, stirring after every 30 seconds, until the chocolate and butter have melted. Stir until combined.

Whisk in the sugar, then the eggs and the vanilla extract.

Slowly whisk in the flour and salt, and whisk until combined.

Pour the brownie mixture into the lined baking pan, and bake at 350°F for 10 minutes.

For the pecan pie topping:
While the brownies are baking, make the pecan pie topping. In the bowl of your mixer, beat the honey (or corn syrup) and sugar until combined. Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract. Slowly add the melted butter, and mix until combined. Stir in the chopped pecans and chocolate chips.

To assemble:
After 10 minutes, remove the brownies from the oven. Spread the pecan pie topping on top of the brownies.

Return to the oven, and bake at 350°F for an additional 40-45 minutes, until the pecan pie topping is completely set to the touch.

Let cool for 1-2 hours before cutting. Serve warm, topped with ice cream.

The flavor was incredible, but for some reason they were too runny. I love gooey brownies but this was a little beyond that, it was more of a hot fudge to plop next to the ice cream, even after an extra 20 minutes at a higher temp in the oven. I’ll try it again but add more flour or something. Given the other great reviews, maybe it was something I did wrong…

Like a stooge I was not paying attention and was taken by the thought of a pecan pie brownie combo. What I got was exactly that – holy cow – right on the money! I love it not to mention the house smelled like a bakery for hours afterward.

These were SO delicious. I made the full recipe but did take out 1/4 cup sugar from the brownie mix and will try less 1/4 brown sugar from the pecan pie topping next time, too. These are SOOOOOOOO yummy, but very very rich!

I made these for our Thanksgiving table and they were great! The chocolate chips in the topping were especially nice.
