A new twist on an old favorite. Strawberry shortcake made with a glazed donut.
Put your sliced strawberries in a bowl. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar over top of your sliced strawberries. Let them sit for an hour until berries have released some of their juices. At the same time, put your mixing bowl and whisk attachment in the freezer to get them cold for whipping your cream.
Once your berries are juicy and you are ready to serve, take your bowl and whisk out of the freezer. Pour the heavy cream into the bowl and whisk on high until soft peaks form. Slow your mixer and add the vanilla and confectioners’ sugar. Turn mixer back to high and beat until stiff peaks form.
Slice each donut and put the tops off to the side. On the bottom of each donut place 1/4 of the strawberries and top with 1/4 of the whipped cream. Top with the top of the donut.
Idea from Culinary Concoctions by Peabody.
