Description

If you love the buttery flakiness of strudel, you’ll love this easy-to-make pie/tart.

Ingredients

  • 3 whole Granny Smith Apples, Peeled And Thinly Sliced
  • ¾ cups Sugar
  • ⅓ cups All-purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Cinammon
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • ½ sticks Unsalted Butter, melted
  • 1 pound Thawed Fillo Dough

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350ºF.

To prepare the apple filling, combine sliced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl. Set aside to prepare fillo crust.

Brush an 8- to 9-inch pie dish with butter. Carefully unroll the fillo dough and take one sheet and place it in the center of the pie dish. Brush with melted butter and be sure to coat the edges of the dough (edges and corners will dry out and flake off if they’re not coated). Continue adding one layer of dough at a time and be sure to alternate the corners so that they circle the entire pie pan. Butter between each layer of dough. This process takes some time but is worth it.

Once all the layers have been buttered and stacked, fill with the apple mixture (you may need to strain off some of the juices) and level out the top. Next bring the corners of the dough in toward the center. Some of the apples in the center will be exposed. Brush the remaining melted butter over the top layers of fillo.

Bake for 30–35 minutes or until top is golden brown and flaky.

Yum! Would you add a couple of sentences to instruct folks how to prepare the ‘apple mixture’?

When done, click ‘make recipe visible’ and ‘save’ and we’ll get this posted.
Thanks,
