OMG! A rocking frosting for a German chocolate cake or cupcakes. Friends request this frosting all by itself. I also toasted my pecans and coconut to add a little pop. Enjoy!
Combine the evaporated milk, sugar, cornstarch, egg yolks, and butter in a saucepan. Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened about 8 to 12 minutes. Once you are done cooking the above ingredients, remove the pan from the heat and add vanilla, coconut and chopped pecans. Cool the frosting until it is firm and easy to spread.
