I used self-rising flour to make a delicious cobbler dessert.
Preheat oven to 350 F.
Peel, pit and slice peaches into 8 slices each. Combine the peaches, 1 cup sugar and water in a saucepan and mix well. Bring to a boil then reduce heat to low and let it simmer for 10 minutes. When done, remove from heat and set aside.
Cut the butter into tablespoon sized pieces and put it into a 9×13 baking dish, and place dish in oven to melt as the oven preheats. When it’s melted, pull the dish out of the oven.
In a medium-sized bowl, combine the remaining 1 cup sugar, the flour and the milk. Pour the mixture over the melted butter. Do not stir. Use a spoon to remove the peaches from the saucepan (leave the syrup in there) and place the peaches on top of the batter. Then slowly and gently pour in the syrup from the fruit as well. Sprinkle the top with ground cinnamon. The batter rises, due to the self-rising flour.
Bake for 30 to 45 minutes.
