My mother-in-law Kit has made this Berry Ice Cream for 40 years and it’s a family summer tradition. Just a fair warning for the faint of heart: it does contain raw eggs. No one in 40 years has ever gotten even remotely sick, (except maybe from overeating) but I’ll give the warning anyway.
Mash fruit and add one cup of sugar. Stir and let stand for 1 hour.
Beat eggs and remaining sugar until lemon colored. Stir in sweetened fruit, half-and-half, evaporated milk, lemon juice, vanilla, and dash of salt.
In a separate bowl, whip cream to stiff peaks. Gently fold whipped cream into fruit mixture. Mix in ice cream maker until frozen.
Makes 6 quarts. I really don’t know how many people it serves because it depends on the size of the servings. I’ve served 25 before.
Warning: this is a big recipe and when I am making it in my Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker (1.5 qt maker), I cut it in half and still have to do it in two batches. One of these days I would love to get a White Mountain Ice Cream Maker. My mother-in-law has one and I love it. Her machine makes this whole recipe at once.

Definitely will try this one. I also have a Cuisinart ice cream maker, but would love to have a larger one.

Definitely going to give this a try. I just got a White Mountain Ice Cream Maker, it’s still in the box just begging to be used!
I get a little nervous using raw eggs, but will buy pasturized eggs for this. Thanks!
