Old-fashioned cornbread.
Melt the butter in a skillet.
Mix the rest of the ingredients together, then pour the melted butter into the batter.
Bake at 475 degrees for about 15 minutes in a cast iron skillet.

This cornbread is fabulous. I’ve made a lot of cornbreads, and I definitely give this one five thumbs…errr, mitts up! It’s moist, slightly sweet, and very fluffy. It just makes me long for Lily White cornmeal, which I can’t get where I live now.

I have made my share of cornbread and this one is now my forever favorite! I used whole wheat flour and it was still amazing. I have paired it with chili and then with pasta fagioli, it makes the meal!! Thanks so much for sharing!!

Glad you liked the cornbread. Its was my great-grandmothers recipe. I like to put loads of butter on my slice. Thanks for trying it out.

I made this with cheap store brand corn meal, and it turned out GREAT. I like it better than the recipe on the corn meal container. I think this will be my go-to cornbread recipe from now on!
