Description

This makes a lot of beans and they are rich, sweet and spicy! They are loaded with bacon, onions and great bbq flavor. These beans have a shortcut: canned baked beans! These are always a hit at any potluck and I get recipe requests all the time!

Ingredients

  • 1 package (16 Oz. Package) Thick Cut Bacon, Diced
  • 1 whole Sweet Yellow Onion, Diced
  • 2 cans (16 Oz. Can) Baked Beans, Any Brand, Any Flavor
  • 1 can (15 Oz. Can) Pinto Beans With Jalapenos (or Any Other Type Of Bean)
  • ½ cups Spicy Brown Mustard
  • ½ cups Brown Sugar
  • 1 cup Prepared Barbecue Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper (Optional)

Preparation

1. Preheat oven to 350F.

2. Open package of bacon and cut into 1/2 inch pieces. Cook in a frying pan over medium high heat until crisp. Remove bacon. Drain all but 2-3 teaspoons of bacon fat.

3. Over medium heat, saute diced onion in bacon fat until translucent, approximately 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat.

4. In a large baking dish, combine all ingredients and stir until well mixed.

5. Bake uncovered for 45 minutes. Enjoy!

Everyone went nuts over these beans!! I made them for 2 separate cookouts this past weekend and at both parties I was asked where I got the recipe. I just added a 3rd can of beans instead of the pinto beans. It was fabulous thank you!
