Description

Unfortunately, French fries are not the healthiest food out there. So instead we started making oven fries and now we make oven baked sweet potato fries. This is the second recipe I have tried for sweet potato fries and I don’t think I need to try anymore. This is “the one.” I hope you enjoy them as much as we do!!

Ingredients

  • 2 whole Medium Sized Sweet Potatoes, Cut Into Matchsticks
  • 2 whole Egg Whites
  • ½ teaspoons Paprika
  • ½ teaspoons Cumin
  • ½ teaspoons Chili Powder
  • ¼ teaspoons Garlic Powder
  • ¼ teaspoons Onion Powder
  • ⅛ teaspoons Cayenne Pepper
  • ⅛ teaspoons Cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoons Black Pepper
  • ¼ teaspoons Salt

Preparation

Preheat oven to 425F.

Peel and cut sweet potatoes into thick matchsticks. Place fries in a large bowl. Combine all the spices, salt and pepper in a separate bowl. In a third bowl whisk the two egg whites together and then pour them over the sweet potatoes. Using your hands to mix the potatoes around, make sure that all of the potatoes are evenly coated. Pour the spice mixture over top of the sweet potatoes and toss to evenly distribute flavors.

On a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, bake sweet potatoes for 20-25 minutes or until fully cooked.

I made this recipe except skipped the egg white. The flavor was great. Slightly spicy with a chipotle like flavor. I keep a jar of this seasoning in my spice cabinet so that I can use it anytime on my sweet potatoes!

I followed this recipe exactly…ingredients, measurements, directions….and these turned out soggy with bits of white egg on the underside, where they stuck to the parchment. I went back and read the recipe several times to see if I did something wrong, but I followed it completely. Not a fan of these.

Oh these were so good! Even my hubby commented that these were better than the store bought or restaurant ones. Definitely a recipe worth keeping…..and trying!
