Description

An embarrassingly easy yet divine tasting chocolate sauce from my dad’s recipe box. Growing up there was often a bowl of this in the fridge. Perfect for topping ice cream!

Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoons Butter
  • 2 Tablespoons Milk
  • 3 Tablespoons Cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • ¾ cups Powdered Sugar

Preparation

Heat butter and milk in the microwave until butter is melted. Mix in cocoa and vanilla. Stir in powdered sugar. It’s really that simple! Substitute dark chocolate cocoa for a richer and deeper flavor.

Nothing embarrassing about it…this sauce was super easy and very tasty! Not quite as good as a sauce you would stand over the stove and nurse, but for something quick that you can whip up with pantry items, I love it. My husband did too.

Just a quick tip…if it’s becoming too thick/frosting-like on the ice cream, add in a bit more milk than called for. It’s best served quite hot.

We sometimes add a tablespoon of peanut butter to the chocolate sauce. Makes it even yummier.

It is quite dangerous. :) I live in a small city in China, where up until 2 weeks ago we couldn’t get decent ice cream. The re-entry of chocolate sauce & ice cream to my diet is oh so good and oh so bad.

This was exactly what I needed! Thank you. It tasted like true Chocolate Ice Cream topping. It reminded me of pulling up to DQ for my very first Hot Fudge Sunday.
Thank you for sharing.

Very good. My husband had the guys over for game night so I whipped this up for them. Served it over french vanilla ice cream in waffle bowls! The guys raved over it!

The recipe definitely lived up to its name. I was in the mood for a hot fudge sundae but no fudge and Hershey’s syrup never does it for me for a real sundae. Within just a few minutes I had it whipped up. I love the simple ingredients. I liked that it was thick. My only issue is somehow it didn’t seem sweet enough. I know it’s like pure sugar and that seems impossible but there was just some sort of kick missing. I just used Toll House cocoa powder though so maybe switching that up would make it better. I definitely will make again though!

YUM! This was so easy and so delicious! I had all of the ingredients on hand, too. As for the other review on the sauce turning into a more frosting like consistency …. you just aren’t eating your ice cream fast enough. ;)
