Description

A delicious cheese spread popular in the South. A perfect appetizer when served with crackers. It makes a wonderful sandwich cold or grilled. If you want something really over the top, try a burger topped with pimento cheese.

Ingredients

  • 1-¼ cup Mayonnaise
  • 4 ounces, weight Cream Cheese, Softened
  • 12 ounces, weight Sharp Cheddar Cheeze
  • 4 ounces, weight Jar Pimentos Drained
  • ¼ cups Onions, Chopped Fine
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
  • 2 Tablespoons Dill Pickle Juice
  • ½ teaspoons Garlic Powder
  • Sea Salt And Pepper, To Taste

Preparation

Mix all of the ingredients well and chill for about an hour. You can adjust the spices to your liking. This is the most basic recipe. I prefer the Claussen pickle juice. Enjoy!

This recipe sounds so good! My grandma lived in South Carolina as a young married woman with 2 young children, and pimento cheese was always a favorite of hers. This recipe is very similar to the spread she made, but she always served it smeared in celery sticks instead of peanut butter.

Loved this!! I’ve made it twice, and it was a hit both times. I used just a dash of cayenne because I was serving it to kiddos as well as adults. I left out the onions because I don’t like raw onions, but I put in a dash of onion powder.
