Description

Beautiful tea sandwich, perfect for bridal lunches, receptions, etc. Easy to make. My daughter’s wedding flower was calla lilies, so this was just perfect to serve as an appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 1 package Garlic And Boursin Cheese, Soft (can Substitute Other Flavors)
  • 3 ounces, weight Package Regular Cream Cheese, Softened To Room Temperature
  • ½ cups Toasted Walnuts, Chopped Very Fine
  • ⅛ teaspoons Ground Black Pepper
  • ⅛ teaspoons Ground Cayenne Pepper
  • 2 loaves Fresh White Bread
  • 2 pinches Paprika For Accent
  • 2 whole Carrots
  • 4 bunches Green Onions, Washed (Use Only The Green Stems)

Preparation

In a bowl, mix Boursin cheese, cream cheese, finely-chopped walnuts, and peppers. Beat with mixer on medium speed until good and creamy.

Use a 2 1/2″ cookie/biscuit cutter and cut out 30-40 rounds from bread. Then with a rolling pin, roll each round so it’s about 1/8 inch thick. For each roll, spread about 1 teaspoon of the cream cheese mixture in the middle and to within 1/4 inch of the sides. Sprinkle a bit of paprika in the center. Roll the bottom of the round over and pinch to seal. It will look like a calla lily.

Wash, peel and cut carrots into very thin matchsticks. Cut 2-inch pieces and stick a carrot into the center of each rolled sandwich. This looks like the stamen. I stick the blade ends of the green onions in the pinched end. These not only look pretty, they tasted delicious as well.

This is a great recipe for a ladies luncheon, or any time you want an elegant appetizer.

This is such a creative (and delicious) idea. I love the garlic and boursin cheese. I’ve got 3 baby showers coming up that I am giving for 2 daughters in law and a daughter who are all pregnant and due the same month – so this recipe will be big hit.

Thanks

Thank you, tesslynne, for this cute idea! I just made these for my niece’s birthday party (or rather for my s-i-l, who loves calla lilies), and even though the bread was NOT cooperative (tearing in places and not wanting to stick together when pinched), they turned out gorgeous!

(I think maybe the bread would have worked better if I hadn’t taken it out of the fridge minutes before using it.)
