Description

The title says it all, one of the simplest things you can do on a grill aside from slapping a big slab of meat on it.

Ingredients

  • 1 cube Butter
  • 2 Tablespoons Lemon Juice
  • 1-½ teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 20 spears Asparagus
  • 20 strips Bacon

Preparation

Melt butter and stir in lemon juice and pepper.

Slice each asparagus spear into 3 equal sections, place the sections side by side, brush with the butter mixture and spiral-wrap with a piece of bacon until the asparagus pieces are covered. Repeat with all spears.

Place over a medium-low flame on a preheated grill. Turn once and cook until bacon is crisp. Remove from heat and let rest for about 10 minutes before serving.

You could do it on a broiler drip pan, under the broiler in your oven, or in a toaster oven (make sure to line the bottom with foil for easy cleanup. I have done them on the stove top in a pan but it doesn’t get as crisp.

You should see if any of your local parks have the charcoal grill stands in the picnic areas, this is great on a charcoal grill, just don’t use too much lighter fluid to get the coals going.

You should look at getting small tabletop propane grill. I have one made by Coleman, that is perfect for tailgating or picnics. I got it at a local farm co-op for about $50 and that included my first little bottle of propane. I can could 4 t-bones on it at one time.

wow! 2 of my favorite foods together. I’m going to have to try this, except I don’t have a grill. How else could I do this?
