Description

I always get asked for the recipe for these, and no one can believe they are store-bought frozen meatballs!

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces, fluid Ketchup
  • ½ cups Water
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 whole Small Chopped Onion
  • 3 Tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons Mustard
  • ½ cups Vinegar
  • 1 bag Frozen Italian Meatballs (50-60 Count)

Preparation

Chop the small onion into small pieces. Add all the sauce ingredients and stir in a large sauce pan until combined. Add the frozen Italian meatballs.

Simmer for 2 hours on the stove top. The sauce will be thick and cling to the meatballs after 2 hours.

I have used up to 60 meatballs in this recipe, but wouldn’t want to use more than that. I would use 2 pans if you need to double this recipe, as the sauce may not thicken enough if doubled in one pan.

This sounds like a GREAT semi homemade recipe. I love it!! Thx for sharing. I’m going to try the meatball from Trader Joe’s and will report back to tell you how they come out.

This strikes me as an ideal recipe to adapt to a slow cooker. Will try this in my crock-pot, for my next party!
