Description

A redneck delicacy that you’ve gotta try at least once.

Ingredients

  • 4 quarts Water
  • ½ cups Salt
  • 2 pounds Peanuts; Raw

Preparation

In a large stock pot, bring the water and salt to boil.

Add the peanuts and stir to “settle” the peanuts. Cover and reduce to a slow boil/simmer.

Check water level every hour and taste for doneness. Add more salt if desired.

Continue to cook peanuts until totally softened.

Total cook time may take up to 6+ hours.

here’s a tip from the swamp: never ask your Boiled P-Nut purveyor how they made ‘em, store ‘em, or transport ‘em. just eat them on the side of the road where you can, or better yet, make your own!

PS many add their spices or “flavor” AFTER making a big batch, not cooked with the peanuts.

We love boiled peanuts! Very different taste than roasted.
