These beans are to die for!!! Once you try them, you will be hooked. They are a great side dish for just about anything, but I usually have them when we are having ham. If you want a little more juice, double the sugar and vinegar.
Fry bacon in skillet, remove from skillet and drain on paper towel. After bacon is cooled, break up into small pieces. Do not drain bacon grease from skillet. Add onion to bacon grease and cook till soft and translucent. Add sugar, vinegar, salt, & pepper to the onions in skillet. Cook till sugar dissolves, then add drained beans, stir and simmer for 30-45 minutes. Just before serving sprinkle broken up bacon on top of beans.
