I recently had an opportunity to make a “fruit dish” to feed a large group of men. I initially thought about baking pies, but I didn’t want to burden the men serving the meal with the task of slicing pie so I searched the internet for some sort of crustless apple recipe. Thanks to the blog Kate From Scratch, this hot apple side dish was easily made and quickly devoured.
Put all the ingredients in a slow cooker and mix thoroughly. Cover and cook on high until apples are tender, about 3 hours. The yummy salted-cinnamon-vanilla-caramel sauce that coats the apples will thicken slightly upon cooling. Cool uncovered for a thicker sauce.
Recipe from Kate from Scratch.
