Slow simmered collard greens with bacon and a kick!
Cook bacon in a large pot over medium-high heat until crisp. Add chopped onion and garlic into the pot and cook for about 5 minutes.
Add collard greens to the pan and cook for a few minutes, until they start to wilt. Pour in the chicken broth and add the salt, pepper, sugar, and red pepper flakes.
Reduce heat to low and simmer for at least an hour, until greens are tender. I prefer to simmer longer.
