Sesame leaves are so delicious because they have a natural toasted flavor. Here’s a classic Korean recipe, intensifying the sesame flavor with sesame oil and a sesame-seed-soy-sauce marinade. This is one of my favorite sides dishes to eat over rice.
Place sesame leaves in a large pot.
In a bowl, add scallions, garlic, soy sauce, water, sesame oil, sesame seeds, and Korean red hot pepper flakes. Mix well. Pour marinade into pot with sesame leaves. Place lid on pot and bring to a boil.
Once marinade starts to boil, reduce flame to medium heat. Cook for 8–10 minutes (do not cook more than 10 minutes), and all the flavors of the marinade will be absorbed by the sesame leaves.
Serve over rice.
