A traditional Scandinavian side dish, this sweet-and-sour red cabbage dish comes together easily, simmering on the stove while you prepare the main course.
Core the cabbage and shred using the slicing disc of a food processor. Core and shred the apple (it’s okay to leave the skin on).
Melt the butter in a large, heavy pot, then add cabbage, apple, and remaining ingredients and bring to a simmer. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours, until the cabbage has softened. Serve.

I love the German version of this dish, it’s called Rotkohl. I can’t wait to try this recipe, thanks for sharing!
