You don’t need a box to create a homemade dish of potatoes that goes well with meatloaf or baked chicken. It’s too easy to do your own!
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter a 13×9 dish. Peel and slice the potatoes very thin—this is important. Layer the potatoes with cubes of the butter, salting, peppering, and sprinkling parmesan cheese as you go. Whisk the tablespoon of flour with the milk. Pour the milk over the potatoes, carefully, then cover with foil. Bake for 40 minutes, then take the foil off, sprinkle a little more of the parmesan, and bake for 20 minutes more. You can broil them a bit if you like them browned a little. Let them sit for 5 minutes or so, then serve.
My mother always added a little sliced onion and carrot to hers for color and flavor. Good with Easter ham!
