Never any left at a potluck. Even non-mushroom eaters can’t resist.
Clean mushrooms. Separate caps from stems.
Melt butter. Saute onion in butter until transparent. Add mushroom stems; brown lightly. Remove from heat. Add caps, bread, sour cream, garlic powder and stir to mix.
In a greased casserole, layer 1/2 of mushroom mixture. Add half of the cheese. Repeat, ending with cheese. Sprinkle with paprika.
Bake at 350F for 20-30 minutes.
Note: You can use up to 6 slices bread and up to 1/2 cup sour cream. I have used whatever bread I have had on hand, whole wheat, white, etc. I have also used mozzarella cheese instead of the Jack cheese.)

I can’t imagine how this could be anything short of fabulous. I love mushrooms and I’m adding this to my recipe box.
