A traditional Ukranian dish. Sweet cornmeal souffle-type of dish. One of my all-time favorite dishes.
Saute onion in butter. Do not cook long enough to let the onion brown. Add cornmeal, sugar, salt and warm milk. Cook, stirring until the cornmeal gets thick. Remove from heat and add eggs and baking powder. Pour into a well-greased 4-quart casserole dish. Top with cooked bacon. Bake at 325F for 1-1/2 hours. Serve hot.

It is like a souffle. It’s actually a main course dish but seriously I would eat at every meal. It is so good. I made some and ate it for every meal until it was gone!

Is the texture like a souflle (sp?)? Sounds yummy! Do you enjoy it for breakfast?
