My sister-in-law’s family makes these beans for every sit down dinner and holiday. They are easy to prepare and delicious.
Wash & string (if necessary) 2 lbs. of fresh green beans (or substitute 2 bags frozen green beans).
Put in a large pot along with the rest of the ingredients, including the juice from the tomatoes. Simmer for approximately 1 hour, covered, until beans are very tender and water is almost gone.
Be sure to brown the ham or bacon before adding to the pot.
Adjust salt and pepper before serving.
