Super creamy and cheesy potatoes with ham. Works well as a side dish or double it and serve with a salad for a main dish.
Saute onions in one tablespoon margarine until tender. Combine onions with potatoes, ham and mayonnaise in an ungreased casserole dish.
In a saucepan, melt remaining butter; stir in flour, garlic and pepper until smooth. Gradually add milk and bring to a boil. Cook and stir for one minute. Stir in cheese just until melted. Pour over potato mixture. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes, or until bubbly.
