Description

Grandma’s Baked Beans are seasoned with bacon, brown sugar, molasses, and ketchup to create this mouthwatering side dish

Ingredients

  • 4 strips Bacon, Preferably Frozen
  • ¼ cups Chopped Onion
  • ¼ cups Chopped Celery
  • 1 can (28 Oz. Size) Baked Beans
  • ⅛ cups Ketchup
  • 1 Tablespoon Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Molasses

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350ºF. Grease an 8×8 inch or 9×13 inch baking dish and set aside.

Heat a saute pan over medium heat. Cut bacon into small pieces (this is easier done when the bacon is frozen). Add bacon to the saute pan and cook 1–2 minutes. Add onion and celery and continue cooking until bacon starts to crisp. Drain fat and set aside.

In the prepared baking dish, combine baked beans, ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, and reserved bacon, onion and celery. Stir to combine. Place in the preheated oven for 45 minutes and serve warm.

Question: when you say to add a can of baked beans, do you mean actual, fully-prepared baked beans in sauce, or a can of plain beans (pinto? navy?) in water? Thanks!
