It’s not a pretty name, but it’s a souffle-like dish that can accompany soup or hot sandwiches.
Cut bread into cubes. Butter a deep casserole dish.
Beginning with bread cubes, alternate layering bread and cheese, making two layers of each.
Combine remaining ingredients and pour over the bread and cheese. Cover and chill for at least five hours (or overnight).
Uncover the dish and bake at 350 degrees for one hour.
