Description

A healthy recipe for baked “fried” onion rings that will satisfy any fried food fix! Crispy crunchy goodness.

Ingredients

  • 4  Sweet Vidalia Onions
  • ¾ cups Flour
  • 4  Eggs
  • 2 Tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sea Salt (or Kosher Salt)
  • ¼ teaspoons Garlic Powder
  • ¼ teaspoons Onion Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Smoked Paprika
  • 2 cups Seasoned Panko Breadcrumbs

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 425 F. Peel then slice the onions into slices that are roughly 1/4 inch in thickness.

In one bowl, add the flour and eggs and beat them together. Add the Worcestershire sauce, salt, garlic powder, onion powder and smoked paprika.

In a separate bowl (or Ziplock bag) add the panko.

Coat each onion ring with the seasoned flour/egg mixture then coat each piece with the panko.

Arrange onions on a greased cookie sheet in an even layer. Bake at 425 F for 7-10 minutes or until desired “crunch” is reached.

These were a hit! Made them for my healthy super bowl dinner. I was worried about crispy-ness and they were perfect! Flavor was good too, followed the recipe pretty much to the tee, expect for all the powders. Those might have had a little more or less as I didn’t get to measure exactly.
