Description

Baby food apple puree.

Ingredients

  • 6 whole Apples
  • ½ cups Water
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon And/or Nutmeg

Preparation

Peel and core the apples and cut them into slices.

To cook the apples… You can either just stick them in a steamer for 15-20 minutes or if you don’t have a steamer you can place the sliced apples in a large skillet with enough water to almost cover them apples and let them cook over medium heat until tender.

Once done cooking place apples in a food processor and pulse. You will need to add about 1/2 cup of water to thin it out to an apple sauce type consistency. Depending on your baby’s age you may need it thinner. If you cooked them in a skillet you can add the water from the skillet back in. Also you can add cinnamon or nutmeg for a little extra kick.

Once pureed, put it into ice cube trays (or containers of your preferred size) and freeze. Frozen cubes can be thawed and eaten by themselves or mixed with cereal, bananas, or any fruit or squash. My son Pepper’s favorites are apples with chicken.
