These baked beans are so simple to make and a fantastic side to any meal. My friends demand I make them for every tailgate!
You can decide whether or not you’d like to keep or discard the apple peel for the recipe. I like to keep the peel on.
Core the apples and chop into bite-sized pieces, no larger than a quarter. Combine chopped onion, apples and butter in a saute pan over medium heat and cook until soft. Add salt, cinnamon, brown sugar and catsup. Stir and cook until dissolved.
Drain the Northern Beans and add to a crock pot on high. Add the rest of the ingredients to the crock pot with the beans and stir to incorporate.
Turn the temperature to low after 1 hour and let beans cook slowly for the remaining 2 hours.
