Homemade powdered laundry detergent that smells great, for a fraction of the cost!
Quarter the bars of soap and place in a food processor. Pulse a few times; the soap will kind of blob together. Add the washing soda and borax. Blend all together until combined and the soap is in small pieces.
Place in a sealed container. Use 1 Tablespoon per load, 2 for heavily soiled clothes. Safe for HE machines as this is low suds.

Hi, I don’t think I’m going to wait for my current bio detergent to run out, I like the idea of making my own detergent, like everything else I guess I know what’s going into it, I’m going to try mine with the original Marseille soap instead of the Ivory bar, hopefully it’ll be just as efficient. Thank you for posting the recipe.

I have 7 kids and tons of Lauren. This stuff is great. I grate the pink Zote to give it a fresh smell. I will never buy regular detergent again.

I used the Fels Naptha instead of the Ivory soap. I love it! However, I just realized last night that I only used 1 bar of the Fels Naptha. I have been using this for about a month and LOVE it!

I just have to write again to say that I have used this since 12/31/2010, and even made another batch. I know there are a lot of recipes out there for this, but I really like this and will do my best to never “buy laundry soap again”!. It works wonderful in my front load machine….my whites are “whiter”, everything smells great and is really clean! I can’t wait for better weather, so I can dry stuff on the line. I am a real convert to this. By the way, I have used the powder with cold water, and it has worked very well.
