Distilling your own 100% pure vanilla extract is not only easy but economical too. You can reuse the beans at least 3 times before buying new. With only 2 ingredients – this is a no brainer.
Gather and clean your jars – I used twelve 4 ounce bottles.
Cut your vanilla beans into 3 pieces each, one entire bean (or 3 pieces) should fit into each jar or bottle you’re using. Put your cut beans into jars (you can also slice them open lengthwise, but it’s not required.)
Measure 1/2 Cups of vodka per jar and using a funnel, fill each jar pouring the vodka in over the vanilla beans.
Cap the jars and set them on a sunny windowsill for 3-4 months to distill.
When it reaches a nice amber color it’s ready to use … and it’s delicious!

homemade vanilla extract really IS no trouble at all!
but i’ve followed a instruction where it is explicitly said to not set them on a sunny place. mmh will do some research on it.
