Description

These are great served with cream cheese and crackers.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Vinegar
  • 3 cups Granulated Sugar
  • ¼ teaspoons Garlic Powder
  • ¼ teaspoons Onion Powder
  • ¼ teaspoons Cayenne Powder
  • ¼ teaspoons Salt
  • Sliced Jalapeños

Preparation

Combine vinegar, sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne powder and salt in small sauce pan and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and pour into sterilized canning jars filled with fresh sliced jalapenos. Wipe rims of jars and seal. Process in a water bath for 10 minutes.

Note: I recommend removing most of the seeds unless you like them REALLY hot!

I have been looking for a candied jalapeno recipe for a long time. I have bought them before, but didn’t know how to make them. Even my Coop Extension Service didn’t know. I love them with cream cheese, etc. How many jalapenos do I need to slice? Sorry, but I have to have exact measurements!!!

How many jars does this make? Do you use pint jars?

I’m sure you could omit the cayenne powder and add the garlic and onion since you do process them in a water bath. They’re wonderful, but I do highly recommend removing most of the seeds. The first batch I made I didn’t remove the seeds and they were just too hot!

Can you omit the cayenne since the pepeprs are hot already? Could you use fresh garlic and onion? Looking forward to making this.
