This is a nice alternative to hot spinach dip and goes great with tortilla chips.
Saute onion in butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat until onions are tender and caramelized. Remove from heat.
Preheat oven to 375 F. Combine onion, cheese, mayonnaise, hot sauce and garlic in a large bowl. Stir well. Pour into a lightly buttered 1 1/2 quart casserole. Bake uncovered at 375 F for 20-25 minutes or until bubbly and golden. Serve dip with tortilla chips.
