Description

This is the queso we ate in my house growing up. Now all my friends ask me to bring it to get-togethers.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole Medium Onion
  • 1 package (1 Lb. Package) Spicy Breakfast Sausage
  • 1 can (10.75 Oz. Can) Cream Of Mushroom Soup
  • 1 can (10 Oz. Can) Hot Rotel
  • 1 can (10 Oz. Can) Medium Rotel
  • 1 block (16 Oz. Block) Velveeta

Preparation

Chop the onion (I chop mine very finely, but it is a matter of preference). Toss the onion and the spicy breakfast sausage in a skillet and cook on medium heat. Break the meat up into small pieces and continue cooking until the meat is browned. Drain the grease from the meat mixture.

Cube the Velveeta.

There are two cooking options from here. You can:

(a) Combine the sausage mixture, cheese, and all the remaining ingredients in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave in two-minute intervals, stirring well in between. (Cook it for more than two minutes at a time without stirring, and it will burn.)

(b) Combine the sausage mixture, cheese, and all the remaining ingredients in a slow cooker on low. You must stir very often, or once again the cheese will burn.

This looks delicious. I have never added cream soup to my queso, but I love it mixed with suasage. I will have to try this recipe over the weekend!
