This is an all-time favorite at Mama Holli’s house. It is a tradition to serve these on Christmas morning while we open our gifts. These babies also make a wonderful manly appetizer. The menfolk just love these!
Mama Denise in Texas has been serving these up for years at all of her wonderful parties. The best thing about this recipe is that it can be made ahead and frozen until ready to use!
Brown and drain sausage. Add cream cheese, pepper jack cheese and green chilies to sausage. Mix well.
Spray baking sheet. Open rolls but do not separate triangles. You will make 2 loaves from the 2 rolls of doug. Place 4 triangles of each roll together on a baking sheet. Press out the perforated holes to seal as one piece. Spread half of the sausage mixture on top. Cover with the remaining 4 triangles pressed together. With your finger press all around the edges to seal the top and bottom pieces of dough. Repeat the procedure to make the second loaf.
Spread the egg whites over the tops of the loaves with a brush. Sprinkle poppy seed over the egg whites.
Bake 25 minutes at 350ºF. Slice loaves and serve hot. You may let them cool on a wire rack and place them single layer in a Ziploc bag and freeze. No need to thaw just reheat on a baking sheet for 20-25 minutes at 325ºF.
You may omit the green chilies and pepper jack cheese if desired for a milder version. Both ways are delicious! I usually do half and half.

I made these for breakfast and my husband loved them. I put what was leftover in the freezer and they quickly disappeared. Great taste and not just for breakfast.

Made these last night for an American Idol gathering. They were a huge hit – VERY yummy! Super easy to make. I will be adding these to my often made funger foods list.

My friend made these last night for a little get-together, and they were soo good! I will definitely be adding this to my recipe collection. I think they are a good breakfast item or snack item.
