This recipe was born out of desperation when my husband called me at 9:30 one night to tell me the guys were coming over after their shift ended at 10:00 p.m. Been serving this ever since and everyone loves it. If you don’t have an electric fondue pot, you could use one that needs a flame under it or you could use a dip-sized slow cooker. You might want to heat the mixture in the microwave first.
In an electric fondue pot (I inherited my mother-in-law’s) empty both cans of refried beans and the soups. Heat on medium until blended together. Add water a little at a time until it becomes a “dippable” consistency. Turn to low setting and serve with Fritos or Tostitos dippers. Awesome stuff!
One note – you need to give it a stir from time to time or it will look a little crusty on top. Just stir it up and everything melts back together.
