Description

Such a yummy appetizer! Perfect for the upcoming Superbowl.

Ingredients

  • Canola Oil, For Frying
  • 2 whole Eggs
  • 2 cups Bread Crumbs
  • 2 whole Avocados, Sliced Into Strips
  • Salsa, To Taste
  • Ranch Dressing, To Taste

Preparation

Fill a deep pot or Dutch oven with a couple inches of canola oil. Heat to 350ºF, verify with a thermometer. Whisk the eggs in a bowl, set aside. Add the bread crumbs to a bowl, set aside. Dip the avocado pieces into the egg, then the bread crumbs. Lower the avocado into the heated oil, fry until golden brown.

To make the salsa/ranch dip, combine parts of both ingredients until desired flavor. Some people might like more of a salsa flavor, others, more of a ranch. I like about 2 parts ranch to 1 part hot salsa.

Enjoy!

I’m not offended. Not everyone is going to like my recipes :) And, I’m totally flattered to get so many comments, holy cow!

I used Panko crumbs, if you visit the blog (click on Related Blog Link) you will see that’s what I used. Anyway, they worked perfectly. I like how they are extra crunchy too.

Thanks gals!

I actually made these last night and put them on a chicken club wrap with some spicy ranch dressing. Added a great crunch to it and interesting flavor!

First of all, I apologize if I offended anyone (especially the author of the recipe) by my “negative” comment. I didn’t intend it to sound mean or degrading. I was simply commenting on the recipe which is what I thought this “Comments” area was for. There are lots of recipes that do not “sound” good to me but actually are and maybe I should have included that statement in my comment. I was not trying to tear anybody down.

Amazing! Can’t wait to try this recipe

Obviously Florida hasn’t caught up to the rest of the avocado eating world. Here in Texas… oh yeah! Fried Avocados are on the menu at lots of Tex-Mex places around here in Austin (maybe because we’ve become a foodie destination). Yuuuuuuummmy!

Don’t knock something until you’ve tried it.

These were delicious, I did not think you could make an avocado better, but it turns out you can! For the dip I used Sour Cream and Salsa, since I didn’t have ranch on hand. So Good!
