Description

Kutsinta is a local Philippine dessert.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups Water, Plus More For Steamer
  • 1-½ cup Rice Flour
  • ½ cups All-purpose Flour
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Anatto Powder
  • ¼ cups Milk
  • 1-½ teaspoon Lye Water
  • Grated Coconut, For Garnish

Preparation

Boil water for the steamer.

In a mixing bowl, sift all dry ingredients. Combine 3 cups water and milk in a separate bowl. While mixing the dry ingredients, slowly add the water-milk mixture until all ingredients are completely distributed and lump-free. Add lye water, then continue mixing. Fill small muffin pans halfway. Steam for 10–20 minutes. Serve kutsinta with grated coconut.

Enjoy your kutsinta with a cup of brewed coffee or tea. It really is important to serve this yummy treat with fresh grated coconut.
