Fast and delicious abbreviated version of a classic Mexican layer dip.
Soften 8 ounce package of cream cheese and mix well with one cup of picante sauce and 2 tablespoons of cilantro (fresh is best, but if using dried, reduce to 2 teaspoons dried and leave out the additional garnish). Spread evenly in a 9-inch round pie plate or similar. Layer one cup (or to taste) 0f shredded cheese mix evenly across the top. Top with additional picante sauce (as much as you want) and garnish with remaining fresh cilantro.
Serve with tortilla chips.
This is a good basic recipe to start with and you can add your own mix- ins as desired.
