Description

This is a new twist on an old party staple—Chex Mix that is both sweet and savory. I warn you, it is addictive! Hence, the title.

Offer this tasty treat at your next Super Bowl party, or Christmas party, etc. Enjoy!

With love,
Your Supplier

Ingredients

  • 5 cups Rice, Wheat, and/or Corn Chex Cereal
  • 1 cup Oats, Uncooked
  • 1 cup Honey
  • ¼ cups Vegetable Or Canola Oil
  • 12 ounces, weight Mixed Nuts
  • ¼ cups Butter Or Margarine, Melted
  • ¼ cups Parmesan Cheese, Grated
  • ½ teaspoons Garlic Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Oregano
  • ½ teaspoons Celery Salt

Preparation

Preheat oven to 300 degrees.

1. In a large bowl, combine cereal and oats.
2. In a large measuring cup, combine honey and oil; pour over the cereal/oat mix. Stir gently until completely coated.
3. Spread cereal on a foil-lined cookie sheet. (You may also want to spray the foil with cooking spray.)
4. Bake at 300 degrees for 20 minutes, stirring cereal occasionally. Make sure it turns golden brown; do not burn.
5. In the meantime, melt butter in a medium bowl.
6. Add Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, oregano, and celery salt; stir. Then, add the mixed nuts and stir to coat.
7. Once again, spread butter/nut mixture on a foil-lined cookie sheet and, once again, bake, at 300 degrees for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
8. Allow both pans to cool completely.
9. In a large container, mix the cereal and nuts together.
10. Enjoy!

Note: the next time I make this, I plan to add a little cayenne to the butter/nut coating! It’s a recipe that has infinite possibilities.
