Description

Awesome and easy. Great for substitutions – just be sure the volume of dry ingredients remains the same with anything that is subbed in.

Ingredients

  • 14 ounces, fluid Sweetened, Condensed Milk - 14-ounce Can
  • 2-½ cups Oatmeal (quick Or Rolled Oats)
  • 1 cup Unsweeted Coconut Flakes
  • ½ cups Dried Apricots
  • 1 cup Raisins Or Dried Cranberries (you Decide!)
  • ½ cups Sunflower Seeds
  • ½ cups Milled Flax Seed

Preparation

Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Warm condensed milk in microwave (optional – I never do this). Mix all dry ingredients together; add condensed milk and fold together with spatula. Spread mixture into a greased 13″x9″ pan. Press lightly with hand or spatula. Bake 1 hour – remove and let cool 3 minutes. Cut into bars. When completely cooled, wrap bars for goodness on the go!

Other awesome combos = chocolate chips, dried cranberries, and cashews; butterscotch chips and sunflower seeds.

I have now made these granola bars 2 weeks in a row to save our family money instead of buying bars at the store. These are GREAT! I could not find milled flax at the store so instead I have been grinding flax seed in our coffee grinder, works like a charm and then you just grind what you need. I have not yet tried it with coconut but we do add in wheat germ.

I always buy my husband Granola bars for his lunch at work and he worries about the ingredients they put in them.. So I thought I would try these out and he says these are the best! I only had raisins and coconut so next time I am going to add some almonds and cranberrys. thank you so much for sharing this recipe!
