Description

This appetizer is delicious and uniquely served in its own bowl.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf Round Bread
  • 8 ounces, weight Shredded Colby-jack Cheese
  • 8 ounces, weight Cream Cheese, Softened
  • 1-½ cup Sour Cream
  • 1 cup Cooked, Diced Ham
  • 1 whole Small Green Pepper, Chopped, Or 1/2 Cup Of Green Onion Can Be Substituted
  • 4 ounces, weight Chopped Green Chilies
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 whole French Bread Loaf
  • Olive Oil
  • Garlic Salt

Preparation

1. Preheat oven to 350F.
2. Cut hole in top of bread and carefully hollow it out to the edges, leaving a bowl. Reserve large chunks of removed bread. Save the lid too!
3. In a medium bowl, combine cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, ham, green pepper, green chiles, and Worcestershire sauce. Spoon mixture into bread bowl. Replace the top “lid” of the bread, wrap tightly in foil and place on a medium cookie sheet.
4. Bake in the oven for 60-70 minutes.
5. Tear reserved bread into nice large pieces and cut the loaf of French bread in thick slices and then each slice into fourths.
6. Drizzle bread pieces with olive oil, sprinkle with garlic salt. Put bread pieces on a cookie sheet.
7. Bake bread pieces for 10-15 minutes. Flipping/stirring half way through.
8. On a platter, surround warm bread bowl with bread pieces and serve.
