Description

Tastes just like peach cobbler…Would make a great filling for a thumbprint sugar cookie…Just an idea!

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds Fresh Ripe Peaches
  • 4 whole Cinnamon Sticks
  • 3 Tablespoons Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 1-½ package Powder Pectin
  • 7 cups Sugar

Preparation

~For basic peach jam omit the cinnamon sticks.

Peel and pit peaches then finely chop or food process. Add chopped peaches to a 6 to 8 quart pot.

Add cinnamon sticks, lemon juice, and pectin. Bring mixture to a rolling boil stirring frequently.

Add sugar and cook for 1 minute. Remove from heat.

CAREFULLY remove cinnamon sticks from Jam. Skim off foam.

Ladle jelly into sterilized hot half-pint jars, leaving 1/8 inch head space. Process in a boiling water canner for 10 min.

Allow to cool completely away from drafts, then store in a cool, dark place.

Love this recipe, the cinnamon is a great addition. We make jam in large batches, 20-30 lbs at a time. For those who don’t want to use sugars or sweeteners, Ball makes Low or No sugar Needed Pectin. This is what I use and rarely add sugar.

Hello there! I love to try this recipe out but I have a quick question. How much pectin do you use exactly? I have a 4.7oz container, do I use half of it? Reason I asked I assume it comes in different ounces. Thanks!

I made this over the weekend, as I had 64 POUNDS of peaches to do something with. And it this jam was absolutely FABULOUS! It was so simple and it tastes divine. It would make fried worms taste good. I will definitely be making this again, and again, and again. Thank you, bertscannery!

Delicious jam! I followed suggestions from other posters and cut sugar back to 5 cups. I used 10 peaches per batch, as that was just over 3 pounds. I had cinnamon sticks, but opted to use 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon because it was easier and I was making several batches. I made five batches and each batch yielded 8 or 9 1/2-pint jars. Will definitely be making more!

I just made this tonight with my 7 year old (well that was an adventure! LOL) and it is FABULOUS! I cut way back on the sugar I did 4 1/2 cups, but I have fresh peaches we picked ourselves already ripe so that may factor in. I love the cinnamon stick addition, sooo yummy!

This is great! I puréed the peaches because I don’t like chunks and it worked perfectly!

Awesome & tasty, tho a bit sweet, might cut back on the sugar for the next batch. My cinnamon sticks were a bit rough, I gave the brewing pot a couple of shakes of ground cinnamon. Tastes like cobbler, mmmmm good! Thanks for sharing!

Amazing…I didn’t even really like peaches before this! This is now a jam of choice for me. I have a serious sweet tooth and this fills it perfectly.
